A few weeks ago, a buddy of mine told me about this amazingly bizarre, organic shop and music venue he went to in seemingly the middle-of nowhere, Minnesota. Naturally, my curiosity was sparked when he began to describe all of the quirks and wonders to be found inside this old General Store, like the ancient cash register, glass mason jars filled with goods and the music venue upstairs, and I knew I had to go check this place out for myself.
‘Tis the season for holiday markets, and we kicked things off by attending the American Swedish Institute’s Julmarknad.
With over 40 local artisans, traditional Swedish treats and events throughout the day, it’s one of my favorite Christmas markets!
Now that the weather has made a turn for long, cold and dark days, I find myself looking for adventures to be had indoors. So when our friends recommended spending an afternoon checking out the new Bell Museum, I eagerly accepted the invite.
When we booked our anniversary trip to Seattle, I knew the one and only thing we had to do was hang out in a hot tub out in the middle of Lake Union with our best buds.
We recently spent 4 days exploring Olympic National Park along the coast of Washington. The park is absolutely breathtaking. You drove along highway 101, a winding road surrounded by mountains, ice cold lakes and pine trees larger than most of the buildings downtown.
Don’t get me wrong, I too enjoy the Minnesota State Fair. Hell, I even wrote my own post about it. But I must say, I much prefer the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. Maybe it’s partially because you get to dress up as little or as a fully committed to Jon Snow as your little heart desires and no one bats an eye. Or maybe I just like all the yelling of “Hazzah!” as mead is poured into my wooden mug and actors frolic past in faerie wings throwing glitter in the air.
After I graduated college, I knew I wanted to get out of the Midwest. I’ve lived there my entire life (except for a 3-month abroad program while in school) and I wanted to try out something new, even if it would only last a short time.
