Explore Minnesota's North Shore

I have met several Minnesota natives who have never even been to Duluth, let alone see all of what the North Shore has to offer! So look no further friends. I’ve put together a list of what to pack, where we stayed and my favorite must-see things to do on your trip up north to take the guess work out of your travel planning!

A Week in Key West is Best

Ryan and I have been on a lot of trips together, but going to a warm destination was a first for us. He’s a Northerner, through and through. So for him, going anywhere hot is pretty much the last place he wants to go. But we were both pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed Key West!

We had an excellent trip, and I want to share with you everything we did so you have an idea of what adventures you can find if you ever make a journey down to the Southernmost Point yourself!

Get Ready Player One, This is a Game Changer

The Game Changers exhibit is host to over 100 games, honestly most of them you’ve probably never heard of unless you are a next level nerd, (and I say that with the highest respect!) displays of amazing original concept art and some pretty amazing BTS (behind the scenes) info of how the world of game design works.

Sunken Cities Exhibit at MIA

“More than 1200 years ago, two ancient cities were lost to natural disasters and the rising tides of the Mediterranean Sea. Two decades ago, underwater archaeologist Franck Goddio and his team discovered those cities, revealing monumental statues, religious images carved in stone, exquisite jewelry, and delicate ceramics—and a greater understanding of life during the age of the pharaohs. Don’t miss this epic story of their discovery.”

The Oak Center General Store is Unlike Anything You've Ever Seen

A few weeks ago, a buddy of mine told me about this amazingly bizarre, organic shop and music venue he went to in seemingly the middle-of nowhere, Minnesota. Naturally, my curiosity was sparked when he began to describe all of the quirks and wonders to be found inside this old General Store, like the ancient cash register, glass mason jars filled with goods and the music venue upstairs, and I knew I had to go check this place out for myself.

We Went Back in Time at the Minnesota Ren Fest

Don’t get me wrong, I too enjoy the Minnesota State Fair. Hell, I even wrote my own post about it. But I must say, I much prefer the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. Maybe it’s partially because you get to dress up as little or as a fully committed to Jon Snow as your little heart desires and no one bats an eye. Or maybe I just like all the yelling of “Hazzah!” as mead is poured into my wooden mug and actors frolic past in faerie wings throwing glitter in the air.

Hi, I'm Karen. Nice to Meet You.

After I graduated college, I knew I wanted to get out of the Midwest. I’ve lived there my entire life (except for a 3-month abroad program while in school) and I wanted to try out something new, even if it would only last a short time.
